Professor of New Testament
David W. Hester has been preaching since 1978. He is a third generation Gospel preacher; his grandfather, S. F. Hester, preached for over forty years. He passed away in 1982. David’s father, Benny W. Hester, preached for over fifty years before his passing in 2012. David married Brenda in 1988; they have two sons who are faithful members of the church. Will is married to Sarah and lives in Louisville, Kentucky—they have three young sons who are also the greatest grandsons EVER! Jonathan is married to Bree and lives in Birmingham, Alabama. Jonathan is Director of Government Relations for Alabama Secretary of State Wes Allen. David serves as Professor of New Testament at the V. P. Black College of Biblical Studies and the Kearley Graduate School of Theology at Faulkner University, and is also the Director of the Faulkner Bible Lectureship. David is Associate Minister at Elmore church of Christ. He is the author of four books: Among The Scholars (1994), Tampering With Truth (2007), Does Mark 16:9–20 Belong in the New Testament? (2015), and Jesus Christ: A Thematic Study (2023). David has had four public debates: one with Catholic theologian Robert Sungenis on authority (2011), two with Don K. Preston on Realized Eschatology (2016 & 2017), and one with Bill Pascrell on Gambling (2024).
