Minister
Chris McCurley is the Preaching Minister for the Walnut Street Church of Christ in Dickson, TN. Chris began in ministry at the North Heights Church of Christ in Batesville, AR as a Youth Minister. After that, he spent 4 years as the Preaching Minister for the Mill Street Church of Christ in Cassville, MO. Prior to ministry, Chris was a teacher and head basketball and baseball coach in the Cord-Charlotte School system for 4 years.
Chris is married to Libby. They have 3 wonderful children: Keely (27), Zoe (24) and Zane (23) & one granddaughter, Ash. Both Chris and Libby grew up in Paragould, AR where their families still reside.
Chris is editor and co-author of the books Fit for the Pulpit: The Preacher & His Challenges and Preach Better: 10 Ways to Communicate the Gospel More Effectively. He has also edited the books Girl, We Need to Talk: The Minister’s Wife & Her Struggles and Rest in Green Pastures, a book on shepherds in the Lord’s Church. He also hosts a podcast entitled Dear Church that airs on Facebook, YouTube, Apple Podcasts and Spotify. He is also co-host of the podcast Cover 2 with Justin & the Preacher, which focuses on Dickson County and Creek Wood High School football and airs every Thursday at 6:00 on Facebook. Chris serves as treasurer of the board for the Red River Family Encampment. In addition, he writes a weekly article for the Dickson Post and does color commentary on WDKN for Creek Wood High School football games.
In his spare time, Chris spends his time fishing and hunting and spending time with his family.
